4 Picture Tear is the three song mini-EP by Lily Konigsberg (Palberta, Lily and Horn Horse, Eyes of Love), coming out on Ramp Local for Cassette Store Day 2018. The songs on 4 Picture Tear showcase Konigsberg's incredible talent for constructing infectious melodies, which she weaves through serene synths and fuzzy pre-programmed back-beats. The driver of these melodies are her close, intimate vocals, which layer on top of each other in pleasing harmonies, particularly clear on the a cappella track "Rock and Sin". The closing piece "7 Smile" is a classic bedroom-rock jammer, featuring a quiet-but-ripping solo by Ani Ivry-Block (Palberta, Shimmer), that could be straight out of a Weezer or Pavement album from their heydays. Despite the comparison, Lily's brand of indie rock is totally her own thing and her lyrics are a brutally honest expression of what's happening in her life at any given moment, which in turn awakens a truly emotional listening experience. Regarding what was happening in Lily's life when writing these songs she tells us: "In early June I experienced some sort of brain crack that proved to me that anyone can go crazy at any time. We are all very close. I'm doing better now, but in the first few days of brain mania I would look at a cute photo-booth picture I had taken with Matt [Norman, aka Horn Horse] and cry because I thought the person I saw in those pictures would never come back. I felt like a different person. Now I know I am still here and things are less crucially terrible. Anyway, here are some songs I wrote during this time that I want to show you. They are all sad. They are mastered by Damon Karr, someone I know who feels things I feel. I'm happy to know they are out there."
